Github actions runs on custom docker image

Hi i have created a docker image which is published to github docker registry. I’d like for my deploy job to run/be based on this image is that possible?

@kaykhan,
Do you mean you want to set your custom Docker image as a job container in your workflow?
The value of jobs.<job_id>.container.image can be the Docker Hub image name or a public docker registry name. But it does not support images from GitHub Packages registry Currently.

Currently, when accessing the GitHub Packages registry in the job, we need to login GitHub Packages ( docker login -u USERNAME -p TOKEN docker.pkg.github.com) at first, event if the public. And we have no methods to set the authentication when using the images as container in the workflows.

I have seen many people are are requiring this feature, and I have reported this to the appropriate engineering team for further discussion and evaluation.

Of course, you also can directly report a feature request here. That will allow you to directly interact with the appropriate engineering team, and make it more convenient for the engineering team to collect and categorize your suggestions.
