Git via ChromeOS gives Permission Denied

I am trying to use set up git on ChromeOS’ Linux Beta. I have created an SSH key and added it to my online github account. However, testing the connection returns this:

shane@penguin:~$ ssh -T Permission denied (publickey).

I’ve tried the Permiission denied public key troubleshooting techniques from the github docs with no success, so I’m not sure what to do next.

Try running SSH with the -v option to get some debug information. Particularly important is whether SSH is trying to use the key you generated, check the “Will attempt key” and “Offering public key” lines (and around them).
