git push over ssh results in bad packet size

Hey all-

just looking for thoughts and guesses here.  Using a fedora 28 system and openssh-7.7p1 I started last night, getting timeouts when trying to push to my repositories (specifically an error about a bad packet size of <large value> followed by a message authentication code error.  Enabing ssh debug via GIT_SSH_COMMAND=“ssh -vvv” and some wireshark tracing I can tell that the packet that has the bad length is a SSH2_MSG_SERVICE_ACCEPT packet from github to my client, and a bad packet length could certainly lead to openssh interpreting a broken MAC.  I’ve tried downgrading openssh, disabling NIC offloads, and even replacing my NIC with the on board LOM, but the results are consistent.  Wondering if anyone else has seen this, and if so, what suggestions they might have to fix it.

You may want to contact private support at so they can walk you through the debugging tools we have.

I hope that helps!
