Git Desktop public loco repo?

I’m creating a Git Desktop Guide.

In Git Desktop I go and create a new local repo, but it does not allow me to make it public before publishing so it ends up as private on GitHub.

Is there a way to do this–make my loco repos public?

If I cannot do this, why?

Thanks.

Until you have actually published your repository, it remains on your computer and nobody but you can access it because it hasn’t been uploaded to github yet.

Publishing your repository means to upload it to github for everyone to see. Your repository isn’t private before you publish, it just doesn’t exist on github yet.
