Gh auth login failing with "could not validate token: missing required scope 'read:org' "

I am seeing this error when trying to use a personal token with “gh auth login --with-token < ~/token” command

Macbook  echo "eaad8 " > ~/token

Macbook $ gh auth login --with-token < ~/token

could not validate token: missing required scope ‘read:org’

Macbook $

~/token --> This just has the hex token. Is there a format for username / scope to be added to this token?

@kalyan-nidumolu The token you setup on your account may be missing the ‘minimum’ scope (permissions) required.
You can edit the scope of your exiting token if you wish or set up a new personal access token with the required scope

@byrneh - Thanks a lot for the response. Makes sense. It works now.
