Generating a GPG key

Using redhat 7.  Have latest gpg installed:

[degenaro@oc0668325081 git]$ gpg --help
gpg (GnuPG) 2.0.22

Tried following instructions here: https://help.github.com/en/github/authenticating-to-github/generating-a-new-gpg-key

[degenaro@oc0668325081 git]$ gpg --full-generate-key
gpg: invalid option "--full-generate-key"
[degenaro@oc0668325081 git]$ gpg --default-new-key-algo rsa4096 --gen-key
gpg: invalid option "--default-new-key-algo"

Please advise.

Hey @degenaro, it looks like this is a much older version of GnuPG which has actually reached the end of its life. I suggest trying to update it to a newer version.

Hi @degenaro,

You may try

$ gpg --gen-key

After that, you can follow the instructions for version 2.1.17 or greater, as mentioned in the GitHub docs.

Thanks!
