From "Cite this repository" widget, link to connected Zenodo item

There seems to be a partial disconnect between the old Making Your Code Citable · GitHub Guides and the new https://github.blog/2021-08-19-enhanced-support-citations-github/: Projects that use the older method are not be marked with the new widget, are they?

If not, could you please make that possible? I imagine that the Zenodo connection can be detected, and then a link to the item be displayed, instead of the current tab-container & Box-footer.

That could turn out helpful to folks who don’t want to switch (or can’t for whatever reason) from what GitHub guided them to do initially. Example: https://github.com/TIBHannover/BacDiveR

Also, Zenodo has more than 2 Cite as and Export options
