File Paths on Automatically Generated User Sites

So I’m using the github user pages auto generator, and to update the content section  I can arrange my sidebar like this:

<button class="accordion">Difficulty 1</button>
<div class="panel">
<li><a href="{{'/TaxCalculator'}}">Shopping List Calculator</a></li>
<li><a href="{{'/StringFlip'}}">String Flipper</a></li>
<li><a href="{{'/AlarmPPD'}}">Alarm Clock</a></li>
<li><a href="{{'/SigMaker'}}">Signature Maker</a></li>

and if the md files available are in the root folder they work.

How do I perform the proper operation for something in the vein of:

<li><a href="{{'/folder/20180222_Blog_GettingStartedonGhPages'}}">Shopping List Calculator</a></li>

 which would represent markdown files to update the content section of my page but in a subfolder?

When I do the method 1 it works, when I do method 2 I get an error.

So far I got around this by creating a Project Github Pages in the directory I want to manage. I can put all my files there. It can’t be in another repo or else there will be conflicts. A bit wasteful and unintuitive to manage but it works for what it’s worth.

The caviat to this is that now I must copy paste css files, layouts and configs for consistency. So I am only willing to do this if it’s the only answer that is provided.
