Feature request: keep track of testing contributions

GitHub currently has a very nice feature that shows the Contributors list (in terms of commits, line added or deleted).

Such features are great since they keep developers motivated by keeping track of their contributions displayed in this nice scoreboard. The more you contribute, the higher you’ll be in the scoreboard. Awesome.

But what about testers?

In some projects, for a Pull Request in order to be merged, it’s required that a tester first tests it and confirms that it properly works before merging it into master.

It would be nice to have a mechanism to keep track of which users have tested the PRs that have been resolved (merged or closed) with a scoreboard showing all testers contributions (starting from the user who has tested the most) just like it currently happens with developers.

Some examples of projects that use this workflow:

but I’m sure that there are plenty of other projects that use a similar way of working.

This would really help to give credits to testers and and also give volunteers an extra motivation for contributing by testing.

Hi @francescoborzi ,

Thanks for this feedback! We’re always working to improve GitHub and the GitHub Community Forum, and we consider every suggestion we receive. I’ve logged your feature request in our internal feature request list. Though I can’t guarantee anything or share a timeline for this, I can tell you that it’s been shared with the appropriate teams for consideration.

@belhfl is there any follow up?
