[FEATURE REQUEST] Generate commands for forks

Problem: when I fork active project and work on my pull request, I have to set up second remote by myself

Proposed solution: generate dialog after forking with this text:

git clone git@github.com:USER/REPO.git
cd REPO
git remote add source git@github.com:ORIGINAL/REPO.git
git fetch

Hi @ginden,

Welcome to the GitHub Community forum!

This is only for who wants to merge into the origin repository, and it’s not always like that. I have a fork of a project but i dont want to merge into the origin because it’s only for my purpose.

But I think it’s not a bad idea… Maybe a github staff can help.

@andreagriffiths11  do you know someone who can give us better answer?

Thanks, @wabri for the ping, I’ll take I’ll take a look and pass on your feedback @ginden, thanks for taking the time to share.

@wabri you are correct git fetch command only downloads the data to your local repository — it doesn’t automatically merge it with any of your work or modify what you’re currently working on. You have to merge it manually into your work when you’re ready.
