Feature Request: Disable comments on gisthub

I have several gists on gisthub that are small snippets of helpful code, and I really would like to be able to disable commenting on those gists - I would rather offer support on Discord itself, where a conversation can actually be had and we can use server commands to help, and such. could this be considered as an option?

Thank you!

Hi @eslachance, welcome to the GitHub Community!

If you have write permissions to a repository, you can hide, edit, or delete comments by using the tools described here:

Additionally, users with admin permissions in a repository can permanently delete an issue from a repository by following these instructions:

Unfortunately, there is no way to turn off commenting on a gist. May I suggest that in order to maintain the comments on a gist, you re-create it as a secret gist. That way you can control who has access moving forward.

The best place to submit feature requests and share more details about your use case is through our official product feedback form so that our product team can track your request.

I hope this helps!

I’ll submit the feature request to the form. The point of that gist is that it’s public and easily searchable, but unfortunately, people have taken to either sending pointless replies, memes, or expecting immediate support from there, and it’s just getting annoying. I don’t want to make the gist private, as it is very useful to the general public, and it already ranks pretty high on search results.

Thank you!
