Failure to clone from public repo

Hi there, I’m pretty new to Git and Github. I set up an account and created a public repo. I opened Git Bash and navigated to the desktop, where I wanted to store the repo clone. Then, I entered

git clone https://github.com/<my_user_name_>/<my_repo_name>.git

I get the following error:

Cloning into 'test'...
git@github.com: Permission denied (publickey).
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists.

The repo definitely exists and I have the proper access rights because it’s public (I’m aware there are some problems with private repos but they probably don’t apply here). I used the HTTPS clone link, so I’m not sure why I’m getting this error. What can I do? Would I need to do a hard delete and reinstallation of Git and whatnot?

Thanks in advance

@rishiklad Have a look at this: Error: Permission denied (publickey) - GitHub Help

Does that help?
