Failed to connect to port 443: Timed out

I’m not able to clone and push to github because of the 443 Timed out error

I tried cloning the official test repo of github.
fatal: unable to access ‘/octocat/Spoon-Knife.git/’: Failed to connect to github(dot)com port 443: Timed out

I also tried commiting to github on any of my project.

How you guys fix this? Is it a github issue? I looked at my firewall nothing was strange there.
I’m not using any vpn

Hi github community,

I have committed my code from gitbash but I am facing the following error while running the git pull command at aws ec2 instance.

sudo git pull
fatal: unable to access ‘’: Failed to connect to port 443: Connection timed out

I am using a windows machine. I haven’t changed anything from the last commit.

Heard about new github policies regarding remote update.

Kindly help me out.

Can you browse GitHub from the system at the time that you have git problems?

Hi Kingthorin,

Yes, I am able to browse properly. The issue persists for the last 2-3 days.
I am afraid, does it related to the recent Github remote update policy?
