I need some help please.

I am trying to flash ESPEasy OTA to my Sonoff Basic. I have successfully installed Tasmota OTA, but I am stuck mid-way on the subsequent ESPEasy install.

Using Python and SonOTA I flashed Tasmota. Then I replaced the file “image_arduino.bin” with the “ESPEasy_R148_512.bin” in the “static” subdirectory of SonOTA-master. I got the “ESPEasy_148_512.bin” file from here:

I then changed the name “ESPEasy_R148_512.bin” to “image_arduino.bin”, and went thru the process starting with “pip3 install –user –r requirements.txt”. (Note that I got a message that requirements were already satisfied, so I probably did not need to run this again.) I then proceeded to run “”, which got me thru to the first two stages (connected to the final stage IP (Sonoff network -, I then input my host network details and connected, and got the message to wait until I could connect to the “FinalStage” SSID. However, FinalStage never appeared, and I am stuck at this point…flash was not successful.

Am I missing a step and/or file(s)? Do I have the right ESP (minimal) file? Any ideas? Is there another way to flash OTA?

Hi wmjengel,

Thanks for being part of the GitHub Community Forum! We’re glad you’re here.

I wanted to jump in here, and mention that if you don’t get the help you’re looking for from this particular community, you might want to try getting help somewhere that focuses on hardware like the Sonoff Basic. It’s definitely possible another GitHub user might have run into this same issue and can help, but the GitHub Community Forum focuses primarily on topics related to GitHub, Git, and development projects hosted on GitHub. We want to make sure you’re getting the best support you can, but this forum may not be the right place for this particular topic.

Best of luck!
