Hello, running into a confusing circle of issues. I am trying to get access to an already existing secondary Github account for work. I eventually managed to get partial access, so that I can log in and do stuff on Github. But the email address that I’m using is apparently unverifiable, so I can’t generate a working personal access token for use on the command line. Here is what happens when I try to verify the email address.
I receive a promising looking email prompting me to verify
When I click the link, it takes me to my Github account (different email). Evidently it wants me to add this email as a secondary email? It doesn’t specify. I try to do so and get this error message:
Error adding firstname.lastname@example.org: email is already in use
- So I thought “maybe I set up a secondary Github account with this email for some reason”, but apparently that is not the case. I get this when I try to reset the password:
That address is either invalid, not a verified primary email or is not associated with a personal user account. Organization billing emails are only for notifications
- Well, what if I actually do create a secondary Github account this email… no that doesn’t work either.
Please let me know if you need any other info to help me with this. Any help would be appreciated.
