Duplicate email notifications when I am the author of an issue

When I create an issue in my repository and someone else comments on the issue - I receive 2 email notifications. The first one states that I am receiving this notification because I authored the thread while the other one states that I am receiving this notification because I am subscribed to the thread.
How can I prevent this duplication and receive the email notifications just once ?

Hi @tmcdos, it’s great to have you here on the forum!

It sounds like you may have Include your own updates selected in your email notifications.
Please check out this Notifications Best Practices topic in the e-mail notifications section:

Here is a GitHub Help doc on getting too many notifications.

I think that the issue comes from my specific situation:

  1. I have 2 accounts on Github
  2. one of the accounts owns the repository in question, while the other account has write access to the repository - both accounts use the same email address
  3. when there is a new issue - I suppose that Github sends notification to both accounts and since I own them both then I get 2 messages in my Inbox
