Detecting the remaining quantity of an item on a website

Good morning to all,

I would like to know the stock status of a competitor’s website.

The site is very simple : there is an article A, with a quantity field and “Add basket”. On the same field there are two arrows:

A down arrow to decrease the quantity
An upward arrow to increase the quantity

I would like to know if there is a robot capable of analysing all the pages of the website every day and report the maximum reached (impossibility to add an article)?

I don’t want to add these items to my basket, I just want to get the value of the items digitally.

Thank you

That’s probably something you could do with Selenium: Load the page, find the “increase” button, try to change the value, check actual value, and so on. Or you could use any HTTP client, if you can figure out how they get the maximum.

That said, be careful not to cross whatever the legal boundaries of market research are in your jurisdiction. For example making so many requests it’s causing excessive load on the competitor’s website could get you into trouble in some places.

Thank you very much for your response.

Yes of course I do not want to disturb this competitor at all. I just want to make a business plan

The whole thing will be done (if I manage to do it) around 3 to 5 am.
