please make this happen already, since a lot of developers code until night and having a dark theme that’s easy on the eyes is really awesome and helps us greatly.

Make it happen already

How can this be considered an acceptable solution. Its been two years since this supposed ‘Solution’ and no work has been done on it. Please work on stuff that is definately important to community like this Dark Mode.

How do I activate dark mode?

Hi, can we please get an actual solution for this? I’ve tried some Chrome plugins and they’re not quite perfect, something official from Microsoft is necessary. Thanks

Hi @st-sloth,

Thank you very much for being here! I appreciate your feedback and will certainly add it to our internal issue, this is a request that we should review and consider. From my own personal experiences, I can share (Thank you @wabri for mentioning it!) dark reader has been great for my eye fatigue in all sites not just technical ones.

Hopefully, we’ll have some more news to share after our redesign plans are solidified but your feedback is definitely in the right place.

I really hope they make a dark theme soon. Dark mode makes a huge difference when working longs days.

This issue isn’t solved yet.

github.com and github.community still have no dark theme.

Exactly how is this a solution? Two years ago you promised to add it to your internal issues, and making a CSS theme doesn’t take two years.

Dark Reader **IS NOT A SOLUTION**, it is a mere workaround and one that you can be lazy about, for you don’t have to support it.

Make a proper dark mode already. For a developer tool in this day and age, you should frankly be ashamed for NOT having dark mode, but you DO introduce a godawful nightmarish notifications system from hell. Get your priorities sorted.

DON’T

This is only an incentive for Github to *not* make a proper dark mode!

Bummer.

Anyway, you know y’all can get browser extensions for this. They won’t work as well as native developed, but it’s something.

This is the one I use https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dark-mode/dmghijelimhndkbmpgbldicpogfkceaj?hl=en

Please, github developers, implement bright/dark adaptation based on prefers-color-scheme. A native dark theme has been requested seven years ago.

@sharethewisdom, I’m with you. I can’t believe a website geared toward programmers does not have this feature after such a long history of requests.

How can this not be fixed? And adding an insecure extension to my phone, or other browser, is not an option, get your act together, before you kill more innocent eyeballs!

GitHub.community just received a dark theme a few days ago via the Discourse update. :tada:

Staff edited link by request of poster.

Microsoft, the company that’s “always late” or “never arrives” at the dark mode party. Don’t expect them to create a simple style sheet when they can’t even get a proper dark mode on their priority products like Windows. It’s 2020 for god’s sake.
