CODEOWNERS updated but users are still owners

Hello,

I have a codeowners file that had the following content

* @ArtFlag @Someoneelse

I removed that @someoneelse on Master.

Then I proceed to open a new PR, and that person is still added to my PR as reviewer. GitHub mentions that that person is a code owner.

I have the same issue on another repo where the same member what part of my GitHub team. The whole team was set as code owner. I removed that person from the team, they still receive receive request reviews through the team.

I cannot share any repo, they are private.

How do I actually remove that person? She is not in the team or any codeowner file.

Thanks

Because you mention specifically that you changed the CODEOWNERS file on master, the only thing I can guess is that the branch that the PR is based upon still has the old CODEOWNERS file in it. As it states in the CODEOWNERS documentation:

> Each CODEOWNERS file assigns the code owners for a single branch in the repository.

So the PR will be governed by the CODEOWNERS file in the branch that the PR is based upon, not the one in master.

Let us know if you have any more questions.
