Change “forked from” repo

I have a repository that’s a fork of someone else’s fork of the original repo. So,

My project, forked from —> another developers copy, forked from —> original

I need to get changes from the original, but the developer on the middle isn’t updating their fork any more. How can I make fork a fork of the original?

I know I can add a new upstream and merge changes directly from the original, but as far as I can tell, GitHub will still consider my fork to be a fork of the one in the middle. Can that be fixed?

There’s an “Attach, detach, or reroute forks” option in the support contact form, try filing a request there: GitHub Support :slightly_smiling_face:

Why not just delete your fork and re-fork the proper repo?
