Can't connect local to remote repository.

I’ve been strugling with this all day and it’s driving me crazy.  I’ve been following the codeacademy guide to connecting a local repository to a remote one an it’s given me several different errors.  The current one is:

error: src refspec master does not match any.
error: failed to push some refs to 'https://YOUR_GITHUB_USER@github.com/JFAldridge/your_practice.git'

I’m trying to connect through https.  The repository on github is not private.  I’m on a chrome book in the linux enclosure.  I tried to switch the chromebook to developer mode, but it didn’t help.

Any suggestings are very welcome.

Have you created the repository on github?

Hi @jfaldridge,

Since your repository isn’t private, would you mind sharing a link to the repository? That might help with troubleshooting.

Regarding your error message, I see that it includes:

YOUR_GITHUB_USER@github.com

Does your remote URL replace YOUR_GITHUB_USER with your actual username? If you run this command on your command line:

git remote show origin

What does it show the remote URL as?

Thanks!
