Cannot push from gitbash

I’ve been using git in a macbook and have recently started using gitbash in a PC (Windows 10). I cannot seem to push. When I enter git push origin master in the command line, a separate window popped up where it asked for my user name and password. After I entered those, it returned to the gitbash command line and gave me a fatal error message:

remote: Permission to username/reponame.git denied to User.
fatal: unable to access ‘https://github.com/username/reponame.git/’: The requested URL returned error: 403

I can see in my github account that the above process evidently produced a personal access code. How do I get gitbash to just ask me user name and password in the commandline during git push please? It seems to want to create a personal access code by default. How do I get it to stop doing that please?

Hi there!

In order for us to best help you, we may need to take a look at your account-specific details. Because we can’t discuss those details here in a public forum, I’d recommend seeking help from our private support here, if you haven’t already.

Best of luck!
